Anthony Kuo Appointed to the Fire Board

Irvine, California - Today, Irvine City Councilmember Anthony Kuo was sworn-in and seated as a member of the Orange County Fire Authority's Board of Directors.

At it's Tuesday, January 14th meeting, the Irvine City Council appointed Kuo to serve as Irvine's representative to the Fire Authority. He will continue to represent the City Council on other assignments including the Board of Directors of the Irvine Barclay Theater.

In his first meeting, Kuo participated in Board discussions and offered input prioritizing citizen safety, firefighter safety, and commitment to Taxpayers.

When Irvine re-joined the Fire Authority in 2019 after a brief hiatus, Kuo stated, "the safety of our residents has always been a top priority for Irvine. It's encouraging to reaffirm our partnership with the Orange County Fire Authority so the Agency can continue to provide exemplary service to our community." He added, "This agreement cements Irvine as a regional leader on matters of public safety."

Following nearly eight years on the Planning Commission, Anthony Kuo was elected to the Irvine City Council 2018. In 2019, he was selected by his peers to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore. Anthony also serves on the Boards of Directors for the Irvine Children's Fund and Irvine Barclay Theatre. He has been a strong supporter of public safety having graduated from Irvine's Community Police Academy. Anthony is the first member of the City Council to have grown up in Irvine.


The Orange County Fire Authority is a regional fire service agency serving 24 cities in Orange County and all unincorporated areas. OCFA protects nearly 2 million residents from 79 fire stations located throughout Orange County. OCFA Reserve Firefighters work 10 stations throughout Orange County.
