Truth in Accounting Names Irvine #1

Today, Truth in Accounting ranked the City of Irvine #1 among fiscally healthy cities for the third year in a row.

"Irvine works hard at and takes pride in being fiscally fit," said Councilmember Anthony Kuo. "This ranking, in addition to additional honors we earn each year, speak to the healthy collaboration that exists between City Hall, our neighborhoods, and Irvine's thriving business economy."

Irvine's top ranking was based on TIA's independent analysis of the City of Irvine's Fiscal Year 2018 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). Irvine was among twelve cities that TIA looked at having more assets than obligations.

According to TIA, "Irvine can claim to have the best city finances in the US. Not every city in the U.S. is so lucky." TIA Founder and CEO Sheila Weinberg added, "Cities with a Taxpayer Surplus have demonstrated political leadership that values honesty, sustainability and financial responsibility."
