Anthony Kuo Issues Statement on Court Action
IRVINE - Today, former Irvine Vice Mayor Anthony Kuo issued the following statement in response to Judge Griffin of the Orange County Superior Court issuing a writ ordering the Registrar of Voters to remove a candidate from the April 15, 2025 Special Election ballot.
"Today's news announcements help remove a cloud from the upcoming Special Election to elect a representative for Irvine's newly-drawn District 5. While it was unfortunate that it took the Courts to correct a wrong, I am grateful that my fellow candidates and I can really focus on issues important to our community. As your former City Councilmember and +30 year District 5 resident, I look forward to continuing to engage our community at neighborhood events and on their doorsteps so I can continue my work to deliver on initiatives that improve our quality of life and that make Irvine so incredible."
Anthony Kuo served as an at-Large Member of the Irvine City Council from 2018-2022. Prior to his historic election as Irvine's first elected official to have grown up in Irvine, he served as a City Commissioner for nearly eight years. During his time on the Council, Kuo represented the City on the boards of the Irvine Barclay Theatre, Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange County Sanitation District. Anthony is the recipient of the Traeger Award from Engaging Local Government Leaders for leadership in local government and the Hero Award from ProcureAmerica for efficiency and cost management on behalf of taxpayers.
