IRVINE - Today, Anthony Kuo filed paperwork with the City of Irvine to stand as a candidate for Irvine's newly-drawn Council District 5.

"What an honor it was to represent the City I was privileged enough to grow up in," Kuo said. He added, "I look forward to the opportunity to focus my service on the villages and neighborhoods I've lived in."

Council District 5's vacancy, scheduled to be filled by Special Election on April 15, 2025, was created by Larry Agran's November election to serve as Mayor of Irvine.

Anthony Kuo served as an at-Large Member of the Irvine City Council from 2018-2022. Prior to his historic election as Irvine's first elected official to have grown up in Irvine, he served as a City Commissioner for nearly eight years. During his time on the Council, Kuo represented the City on the boards of the Irvine Barclay Theatre, Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange County Sanitation District. Anthony is the recipient of the Traeger Award from Engaging Local Government Leaders for leadership in local government and the Hero Award from ProcureAmerica for efficiency and cost management on behalf of taxpayers.
