Kuo Named Vice Chair of the Orange County Fire Authority

IRVINE, Ca - Yesterday, the Orange County Fire Authority's Board of Directors selected Irvine Vice Mayor Anthony Kuo to serve as the Vice Chairman for the 2022 calendar year.

Kuo succeeds La Palma Mayor Michele Steggell who will serve as Chair of the Board.

"When a third of the City of Irvine evacuated as a result of the Silverado Fire in 2020, we looked back and saw no property damage and no loss of life. We have the Firefighters of the Orange County Fire Authority to thank for that and its the duty of the Board of Directors to represent our residents and taxpayers to ensure our First Responders have the resources and support they need to keep us safe," Kuo said. "I'm grateful for the leadership of outgoing Chairman Dave Shawver, and looking forward to serving alongside Chair Steggell and our colleagues from throughout Orange County," he added."

The Orange County Fire Authority is a regional fire service agency that serves 23 cities in Orange County and all unincorporated areas. OCFA protects nearly 2,000,000 residents from 77 fire stations located throughout Orange County, including 11 in the City of Irvine.

Anthony Kuo is the first member of the Irvine City Council to have grown up in Irvine. He was first elected in 2018 after nearly eight years as a City Commissioner. He represents the City of Irvine on the Boards of the Irvine Barclay Theatre and the Orange County Sanitation District. Outside of City Hall, Kuo also serves on the Boards of the Irvine Children's Fund, the Advisory Board of Crime Survivors Inc, and as President of the Irvine Community Land Trust.
