IRVINE - Today, former Irvine Councilman Anthony Kuo qualified to appear on the April 15, 2025 Special Election Ballot to fill the Council District 5 vacancy.
Kuo's filing includes his official ballot statement which reads:
I ask for your vote to become your Council District 5 Irvine City Councilmember. Council District 5 includes the villages of University Park, Rancho San Joaquin, Westpark, and Woodbridge — where I’ve lived for over 30 years. I proudly served as a City Commissioner (2011-2018) and as your elected City Councilmember (2018-2022).
I pledge to work collaboratively with Mayor Larry Agran and the City Council to improve our quality of life in Council District 5 and throughout Irvine. Specifically:
We must take control of Irvine’s libraries from the County so we can modernize and expand our Irvine University Park Library and build a brand-new library in Woodbridge.
We must prohibit building massive warehouses near residential neighborhoods.
We must plant thousands of trees to clean our air, cool our streets, bringing added beauty and value to Council District 5 neighborhoods.
We must disengage from the Orange County Power Authority and insist that OCPA return millions of dollars in electricity overcharges to Council District 5 ratepayers.
We must continue to build the Great Park, completing the Veterans Memorial Park, Gardens and Cemetery — forever honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families.
Again, I ask for your vote - let’s work together to get good things done!
